Blakenall Village Centre goes wireless.

The Blakenall Village Centre has now gone wireless with access to the internet in all our training and conference areas and the Horizon Restaurant, allowing our users access to the internet by note-book computers, using the latest wireless technology.

Blakenall Village Centre is host to a number of conferences and meetings and is also used as a training venue. In addition, the Primary Schools Homework Club meets after school two days a week.

For learning, training and for meetings, information and communications technology is increasingly important. From research to accessing data to present to meetings, the internet is a powerful tool.

Mick Taylor, Chair of Walsall's New Deal Education and Learning Theme group said; "I am very pleased to see this project in place as it underpins much of the educational and learning initiatives that we have carried out in the area, over the years".

Bob Marsh, Education and Learning Theme Leader said; "This is a great opportunity for local people to access the web based learning that is available and it’s free. Any wirelessly enabled computer (or other mobile device, including PDAs and Smart-phones) can now access the internet at the centre. By registering at reception, visitors will obtain a password for the day to use the facility".

For groups or classes using the note-book computers available through New Deal, the class tutors or trainers can register the class and administer the passwords. This will enable ready access by individuals or groups to the internet and add a new dimension to conferences, meetings, classes and training groups.
