Local Children get to spend, spend, spend... everyone counts!
Local school children will be carrying out the final votes at their 'Everyone Counts' event on July 10th at the Blakenall Community Centre that will celebrate the end of their 'funding project' that has been supported by Walsall's New Deal.
At the event the children will vote to make the final decision on what the £15,000 will be spent on.
School Council Representatives aged 6-11years olds from eight primary schools across the New Deal area; Bloxwich CE, Christ Church CE, Little Bloxwich CE, Green Rock, Harden Junior, Blakenall Heath Junior, Leamore Primary and Elmore Green have taken part in training designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge to make informed decisions and to collectively decide on how to use the budget for the benefit of children in the New Deal area.
As a reward for the children's hard work Britain's Got Talent stars, 'FLAVA' will be making a special appearance.
Manny Sehmbi, New Deal's Community Development Worker said; 'The children have worked really hard over the last 8 weeks, they have voiced their views, worked as a team and have taken their role on the school council seriously ensuring everyone counts so they deserve some fun and are looking forward to the event and seeing Flava.'
'Everyone Counts' event will be taking place on Thursday 10th July at the Blakenall Community Centre, Blakenhall Heath.
If you would like more information on this project please contact either Jo Toft or Manny Sehmbi at the Blakenall info Centre on 01922 711228.

Editors notes:
This scheme of work is part of a pilot project linking to the Participatory Budgeting Unit who are an organisation working alongside the Government to involve communities in the allocation of public money.
There are no strict rules as to what the budget is to be spent on however it will link closely with the Government's 'Every Child Matters' Agenda which emphasises the importance of children being happy, healthy, safe and successful.
