Creative Workshops
Due to the success of last year's summer workshops young people can again get involved in free art activities during the summer holidays.
The workshops funded by New Horizons Community Enterprise are targeted at children between the ages of 8 and 12 and are being held in venues across the areas of Blakenall, Bloxwich and Leamore.
The fun workshops are being run by professional artists and will involve young people in a range of activities such as African drumming, dancing, drama, theatre make-up and film making; culminating in the young people making their version of Michael Jackson's Thriller, and Britain’s got Talent.
Manny Sehmbi Community Development Worker said; "This project is an opportunity for young people to take part in activities that will develop confidence, new skills and help them to get more involved in their local area; and we hope; discover hidden talents".
This year the summer programme is being delivered in partnership with Bloxwich East
Extended Schools Cluster.
Paul Mobey Coordinator for the Bloxwich East Extended Schools Cluster said, "We are really pleased to be working in cooperation with New Horizons. Our involvement has allowed the use of new venues in the Bloxwich area nearer to where our pupils live. The workshops look very exciting and I am sure that they will provide new experiences for all of the children involved".
