'Popular centre
launches displays'







Walsall's New Deal for Communities is launching a series of information displays at the Blakenall info Centre.

The displays will aim to inform local residents of the many initiatives and the wide range of services on offer to them in the area.

Judy White, Blakenall info Centre Manager said; "We are launching the series of displays with our Employment Skills and Business Theme; we have invited a wide range of local people and traders and are optimistic that these events will be a great success and create more involvement in the work of our partnership".

Opened in March, 2003, the Blakenall info Centre is very popular with local residents who make good use of the wide range of services and advice on offer. As well as providing internet and computer facilities the 'info' centre is host to a wide range of information about activities in the local area, and the borough; it also has displays about New Deal projects and other local initiatives.

Judy went onto say; "The staff have never turned anyone away; no matter what the problem, in the past four and a half years the team has dealt with everything from stray cats and dogs to leaky pipes"!

The displays will be launched at 5.00pm on Thursday 15th November. Everyone is welcome, the kettle will be on!

Walsall's New Deal for Communities is a regeneration initiative working in the areas of Blakenall, Bloxwich and Leamore. The initiative received a £52 million Government grant from the Department for Communities and Local Government (formerly the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister) to be spent on sustainable regeneration spread over a ten year period that commenced 2001.
