16 years of enjoying art......
In April, Walsall's New Deal will welcome a painting group from Darlaston to the Atrium Gallery.
Darlaston Amateur Artists is a group of 15 local people who get together twice a month to make and discuss their art.
At the meetings, which are on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 10.00 to 12.00noon, members take along their current artwork and discuss their work, any problems they are encountering, and paint and draw. Members also decide on their future programme, such as, what demonstrations to book in, and their workshops and painting days.
The group was originally started 16 years ago by Stan and Jean Gurney, both art lovers; and still meets 16 years later, in it's original venue at; All Saints Church Hall, Moxley, Darlaston (On the Spine Road, the old A41, near Moxley Island).
Members make a £1 per meeting contribution, which goes towards running costs; the contribution even includes a cup of tea or coffee.
The Amateur Artists hold their Annual Exhibition at Darlaston Library, the exhibition is open to any artists living in the local area, the only criteria being that artists must be amateur and enjoy painting.
So, everyone is welcome to come along, you don't have to draw like Michelangelo; you just need to enjoy painting, a good chat and a cuppa!
