'You can fly'

Walsall's New Deal women's group 'Women Together' are asking local people to come together for a walk, wearing fairy wings?

'Women Together' have organised a Health Walk to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug and alcohol. The walk is taking place on the 30th November, and will start at the Blakenall Community Centre at 10.00am, and finish there with a Health Fair.

The walk will be lead by members of the NHS Walsall Community Health Team and is in partnership with Addaction.

The aim of the day is to raise awareness about drug and alcohol issues that affect the community in different ways.

'Women Together' are saying you can 'fly high' without the need for dependence on alcohol and drugs, so if you have pair of fairy wings then bring them to help to promote the day.

The walk will start at Blakenall Community Centre and will go through Leamore Park returning to the Centre where there will be a Health Fair, at which there will be opportunities to get information and advice on a range of health and safety issues. Light refreshments will be available for those taking part in the event.

Local resident and member of 'Women Together' Wendy Smith said;

"We want people to know that they can 'fly high' and succeed without turning to alcohol or drugs. We want to raise awareness of the harm they can do but also about the support that is available. To make this day fun we want members of the community to come along and if you have a pair of wings then please wear them on the walk, join us and walk with pride."
