Great Wyrley Artists show

The Blakenall Village Centre is hosting its first 'group show' with three artists from the Wyrley Artists Group, who first met at the Great Wyrley Art Club.

Ann Hackett said "We met at the art club some years ago and wanted to show our work, so we decided to band together to exhibit our paintings and craftwork.

The artists will exhibit paintings in watercolour, acrylics, oils and mixed media.

Brenda Jenkins
After raising her family Brenda found she had more time to pursue her own interests, which included art. For four years she attended Cannock College as a mature student, studying various art courses. She left college with an A Level in Fine Art.

She is a founder member of Great Wyrley Art Club and is now running her own teaching groups.

Brenda paints in watercolour, acrylic and oil and welcomes portrait commissions from good photographs.

Ann Hackett
Ann has been involved in art over the last six years as a member of Great Wyrley Art Club. She paints in acrylics, watercolour, gouache and ink. She has over 30 years previous experience teaching flower arranging and arts and crafts. She also teaches garden design at the School of Continuing Studies at Birmingham University.

Ann has an A2 Level in Fine Art having completed AS Level in 2006.

Maxine Totty
Having a long term illness encouraged Maxine to take up painting as a form of therapy. She now has an AS Level in Fine Art. Maxine also enjoys painting a wide variety of subjects in traditional, contemporary or semi-abstract style. She is a member of Great Wyrley Art Club.

Maxine paints in watercolour, acrylics and pastels and welcomes commission work.

The artist's work can be seen at the Blakenall Village Centre from Friday 16th November until 5th January 2008.
