Getting ready for the
Big Launch?
Young people are invited to join in with the 'Big Launch' of a youth club at Thomas House, Bloxwich, on Wednesday, 15th April from 3-6pm.
The Millfield Avenue, Smith and Thomas House Residents' Association has worked with Walsall's New Deal, WS3, Walsall Youth Service, Walsall Housing Group (whg), Young Advisors and West Midlands Police to set up this youth facility.
Local young people are planning many fun activities for their peers, the police will be organising a 'kick about' on the ball court, there will be information about the club, music and information available from a range of youth related agencies. There will also be a raffle and a buffet in the meeting room at Thomas House, a block of flats owned and managed by whg.
At the 'Big Launch' young people will be asked to name the club as well as suggest ideas for activities.
Steve Crosthwaite, Youth Leader for WS3 said; "This is a great opportunity. Different agencies have come together to do something positive for local young people. We hope young people will come along, take ownership of this new group and have fun."
Lusia Gallagher, of Walsall Youth Service said: "This has been an excellent opportunity for the youth service to work in partnership with a number of agencies in supporting the needs of young people. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership and the continuing development of the youth project."
Amy Bettley, Young Advisor and local young person, said: "This is a great project because we have not had a youth club in this area before, it will be good to have somewhere to go, to chill out and get involved with activities. It is your youth club so why not make it a great place to be?"
Nitish Patel, of whg, said: "We are very pleased to support youth activity in Bloxwich by allowing Thomas House to be used as the base for the youth club. Smith and Thomas House, neighbouring blocks, have recently been refurbished and members of the youth club will be able to make use of the new play area and ball park."
