Geoffrey Robinson - born in Walsall, educated at Blue Coat C. E. School and Walsall School of Art (under the late George Willot) and following on at Birmingham College of Art.....
On leaving college Geoffrey joined the Royal Air Force where he was trained at the Advanced General Radar School at Yatesbury. On completion of his training he was posted to the Far East where he joined the No 21028 'Advanced Mechanical Engineering Section' in Singapore and then was seconded to a Telecommunication Research Establishment where he worked on producing the first automated navigational network throughout Indonesia and the Far East, this included Changi (Singapore) and Kai Tak (Hong Kong) airports.
Leaving the R.A.F he started a career in advertising, becoming a Director of Brunning Advertising and latterly at the Rex Stewart Group. During this time he worked on campaigns for Jaguar, Volvo, IVECO, Foster Menswear and Dolland & Aitchison. He was elected a member of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising in 1974.
Always interest in fine art from the time he worked in the agency studios, Geoffrey has in recent years concentrated on mastering the acrylic medium.
An interest in the theatre has resulted in several of his latest works depicting leading dancers from the Saddlers Wells, including Wendy Whelan and Craig Hall ('Fools Paradise') Cai Cao and Nao Sakuma ('The Nutcracker') and from the Spanish School, Charo Espina with Paco Pena (guitar) and Carmen Amaya.
There are also some interesting landscapes and seascapes. Most pieces are executed on canvas.
Geoffrey regularly exhibits at the Birmingham Royal Society of Artists, Friends Exhibitions and some of the 'Open Shows'.
