Its official, the Blakenall Village Centre is a National Treasure

Walsall's New Deals flagship building the Blakenall Village Centre has been announced as a national treasure.

The Blakenall Village Centre now appears in the National Treasures guide that features some of the buildings and projects that have won International Green Apple awards for Architectural Heritage and the Built Environment.

The Blakenall Village Centre won 'silver' in the Community Buildings Award for Environmental Best Practice, taking responsibility for the safekeeping of the environment for generations to come.

The awards also aim to celebrate quality community based buildings that are built to high environmental standards and make a contribution to our built environment.

Tom Perrett who attended the awards in Kensington London with Paul Rowlands New Deals chief executive said; "Who would have thought it, a National Treasure in Blakenall, our board members were very pleased when our Centre won the silver award, but to be named a National Treasure as well has to be the icing on the cake!"
