Nicola Gorman at
the Atrium

The Atrium Gallery at the Blakenall Village Centre welcomes local artist Nicola Gorman who will be exhibiting from 4th July to the 9th August.

Nicola regards her work as being eclectic, enjoying creating portraits and mixing natural images from nature with portraiture.

Having completed her training in Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University in 1997, Nicola now teaches in secondary schools around the West Midlands.

Nicola said; "The inspiration for my work is nature, particularly butterflies and seed pods. I enlarge small details from which I draw my inspiration, and with oil paint, they become abstract works of art. The work itself takes on a life of its own, depicting a range of emotions".

"Looking upon the abstract images evokes feelings unique to the viewer. Apart from oil paint, I also favour using pen and ink, amongst other mixed media".

Nicola loves nature and regularly walks her dog, a Finnish Lapphund; she also takes him to the 'Discovery Dogs' section at Crufts.

Nicola has exhibited at the Walsall Art Gallery and Chameleon Gallery, Walsall.

Nicola Gorman's exhibition runs from Friday 4th July until Saturday 9th August.
