On 11th hour, of the 11th day of the 11th month children and local people in Blakenall will be gathering around the Peace Tree on Blakenall Heath to celebrate peace, and say "thank you to all those people who have over the years fought for peace".
Now, 90 years later, the people of Blakenall are commemorating the original planting of the tree, with an event on Blakenall Heath.
The event will commence at 10.55am (We are asking people to assemble at 10.45am) and will involve local children, New Horizons board members, representatives from The Royal British Legion; and the event will be led by Rev. Paul Myers, the vicar of Christchurch, Blakenall.
The tree, a London Plane, was planted in 1919 on Blakenall Heath to commemorate and celebrate the ending of the 1914-18 War by Councillor Somerfield accompanied by children from the local school.
