Photographic first for
the Atrium

Photographs by Steve Moseley on show at the Atrium Gallery
New Horizons Community Enterprise is welcoming its first photographic exhibition to the Atrium Gallery at the Blakenall Village Centre. The photographs by Steve Moseley will be on show from 30th October to 5th December.

Steve is from Shelfield, near Walsall, gained an appreciation of art whist attending The Shelfield School, and light and colour has fascinated him ever since. He first began taking photos when he was 10, with a Kodak Instamatic, which his father bought him.

Steve trained at the West Bromwich Photography College in the early 1980's and went on to become a professional advertising photographer, working for several years in the West Midlands before becoming 'fed up' with fulfilling everyone's photographic ideas, apart from his own......... though he didn't get around to picking up a camera for over a decade after leaving professional photography.

He resumed taking photos about 9 years ago, he also started painting.

Many of Steve's photographs tend towards abstract, concentrating on shape, light and dark and how they relate to one another.

Steve said; "I don't often 'do' pretty sunsets, but try to show another side of the world around us, that is often over-looked. Whilst I have shown my paintings locally, this is only the second public showing of my photographs".

Steve Moseley is exhibiting his work from 30th October until 5th December 2009.

If you are interested in showing your work please contact Andy Bradley or Sally Gamston
on 01922 712858.

Photo opportunities: Due to the photographers work commitments Steve is not available during the daytime. A photograph will be supplied.

Technical information: The photographs were taken with 35mm SLR cameras using transparency / slide film, usually Fuji Sensia or Velvia. The slides have first been scanned and the prints then produced are of archival quality and are 'proper' silver halide process (darkroom) photographic prints; not inkjet prints.

Steve Moseley can be contacted after 5pm and at weekends on 07764 188599. Framed photographs are available, editions are limited to ten.

Journalists are welcome to attend the Private View that will take place on Thursday 29th October, 5.00pm until 7.00pm.
(Please let either Sally or Andy know that you can come along).

The Atrium Gallery is the only art space in Walsall dedicated to showing work by local people and has been called by local artists the 'Peoples Gallery'; set in the professional setting of the Blakenall Village Centre that is also host to a range of services for areas of Blakenall, Bloxwich and Leamore.
