Plant Swop in Blakenall

Walsall's New Deal and Neighbourhood Nature are kicking off this years 'Blakenall in Bloom' competition with a Plant Swap on Thursday 8th May at the Blakenall Community Centre from 3.30pm - 5.30pm.

Members of the community are invited to come along with a plant from their garden and to swap it for another. As well as the swap residents who participate will be given free seed packs to grow at home. The Plant Swap is one of many community events that are being held in Blakenall in the run up to judging in July.

Julia Morris, Neighbourhood Nature co-ordinator said; "We're really looking forward to building on last years 'In Bloom' efforts and to improve the rating that we achieved. We hope that as many residents as possible will come forward to be involved in the project. So come and join in, whether it is by holding your own community event or help with a litter pick, it all helps towards making our area a cleaner, greener and brighter place to live."

The Neighbourhood Nature Project is entering Blakenall in Bloom into the Heart of England in Bloom competition.

Last year Blakenall in Bloom received and 'Improved' rating in the competition in the Neighbourhood category.
This year the area has been extended to include parts of Leamore and a wider area of Blakenall and will be entering the Urban Community category.

If anyone is interested in being involved in the 'In Bloom' campaign please contact Julia Morris on 01922 711228.
