"Anyone for tennis?"









Bloxwich Tennis Club have recently re-grouped, renamed and are now making good use of the new tennis courts within Leamore Park.

The Tennis Club have also recently joined the Walsall League under their new name the 'Leamore New Deal Tennis Club' and now has eight league games scheduled.

Leamore New Deal Tennis Club Chair David Keeling said; "Come along and support us when we play our home matches and enjoy the great outdoors while watching a live tennis game".

Monday 12th May vs Reedswood Tennis club
Monday 19th May vs Wednesbury Tennis Club
Thursday 29th May vs Penns Lane Tennis Club
Saturday 21st June vs Tipton Tennis Club

Matches start at 6.15pm except for Saturday's game, which will be starting at 2:00 pm.

The club runs practice sessions each week on Wednesdays from 6 until 8pm, and all members of the community, in particular, adults are welcome to join the group and take part, and it's absolutely free.

The Friends of Leamore Park are working with the Shelfield and Willenhall School Sports Partnership to provide coaching sessions within local schools. Weekly tennis coaching sessions will be held for the 5 - 11 age groups on Tuesdays from 4:00 – 5:30pm. The coaching session is run by Clayton Edge who is a fully approved LTA qualified coach.

We can even help beginners out with tennis equipment as The Friends of Leamore Park have been awarded a Community Cash Scheme grant by Blakenall & Bloxwich LNP (Walsall Council).

Walsall's New Deal for Communities has recently completed refurbished Leamore Park costing around £831,000 which includes the re-instatement of a crown bowling green, tennis courts, the development of new formal gardens, and a new education garden.

Walsall's New Deal for Communities is a regeneration initiative working in the areas of Blakenall, Bloxwich and Leamore. The initiative received a £52 million Government grant from the Department for Communities and Local Government (formerly the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister) to be spent on sustainable regeneration spread over a ten year period that commenced 2001.
