Do one thing for nature
this summer....
Visit Leamore Park!
During this summer holiday local people are being asked to 'Do One Thing for Nature' at a 'Breathing Place' in Leamore Park.
Every Tuesday and Thursday free activities are being held in the Education Garden at Leamore Park thanks to funding received by the Friends of Leamore Park through the Big Lottery Fund Breathing Places Grants Programme.
Whether you want to learn more about our world through storytelling or really get stuck in and hands on by making a bird box or an insect hotel to help wildlife in your own back garden there will be activities to match your interests.
Chair of the Friends Group Ray Walters said:
"This is a wonderful opportunity for local children and families to get involved with nature and enjoy our Breathing Place, there are a variety of activities taking place so Do One Thing for Nature and come along and join in."
The activities have been organised by Neighbourhood Nature through a partnership project between the Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and Black Country and New Horizons Community Enterprise in collaboration with the Friends of Leamore Park.
If you would like more information about activity times and how to book please contact Julia Morris Neighbourhood Nature Project Officer on 01922 711228
Editors notes:
bbc.co.uk/breathing places is a five year BBC Learning Campaign to inspire people to connect with nature. Developed in partnership with a huge range of wildlife and conservation organisations, the campaign encourages new audiences to get involved in doing one thing for nature, while providing opportunities for Breathing Places to be created across the UK. A Breathing Place is great for wildlife and people. It has an active community of people creating, enjoying and maintaining it.
The Big Lottery Fund have been supporting community groups wanting to create a Breathing Place in their area through their Breathing Places Grants Programme. With £10million of investment, the programme is actively supporting people to make a difference in their area.
