Community and Voluntary Sector Forum celebrates Volunteers Week in Blakenall

On Wednesday 4th June, Walsall's New Deal Community and Voluntary Sector Forum will be celebrating and congratulating the work of local volunteers at an event at Blakenall Community Centre.

Local people will be able to drop in and browse around the many stalls and displays and have the chance to take part in art and drawing classes and an indoor bowls session. Mike Gaffney Capacity Building Manager at Walsall Strategic Partnership will also be in attendance to provide support and advice on the range of funding available to the voluntary sector.

Chairperson of the Community and Voluntary Sector Forum Mrs. Jean Jevons said; "This is a great opportunity for our volunteers to get together and celebrate their hard work that often goes unnoticed. The groups will be showcasing their activities in a relaxed setting it will also be an opportunity for local people to sign up new volunteers which in turn will strengthen groups for years to come".

A number of volunteers have been nominated by their groups in appreciation of their hard work and each individual will receive a certificate.

The first 100 people who sign up to be part of a group or to take part in the activities throughout the day will receive a free recycled goody bag, Community and Voluntary groups will also have the opportunity to be entered into a prize draw for a cash first prize and vouchers for second and third place, this will enable groups to purchase resources for their organisations.
