Local artist Wade Stephens at the Atrium Gallery

Local artist Wade Stephens at the Atrium Gallery
New Horizons Community Enterprise welcomes local artist Wade Stephens to the Atrium Gallery at the Blakenall Village Centre.

Local artist Wade has spent most of his life either living in or around Blakenall.

In 2005 Wade chose to go to university and continue his education, graduating in 2008 from the University of Wolverhampton with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, and in September 2009 he will be starting a Masters in Fine Art at the Birmingham City University.

The core of Wades work revolves around portraiture, however alongside this Wade produces abstract work that can focus on the memories of a particular day or event. Wade has no fixed subject matter within his practice choosing instead a much freer approach.

Wade says; "Art should be fluid; an extension that stretches from deep within your soul, placing boundaries only solidifies that which should be fluid".

Wade uses a variety of media including oil, acrylic, water colour and more recently airbrush for his portrait work.

Prior to graduation, Wade had a varied career, as lead choreographer and dancer in 'Boogie Nites' the club tour between 1995 and 1999. He then went onto being a member of the 'Dreamboys' for two years, later working as a door supervisor in the West Midlands, at clubs such as WS1 and the Lost Lounge in Walsall, and the Panama Bar on Gas Street in Birmingham.

For more information please contact Wade Stephens on 01922 492468.
