More Family Fun at Walsall Tennis Club

Following the 'funtastic' success of Walsall's Tennis Club's first Family Open Day we've decided to do it again.......

So, on Sunday 29th June, starting at 2pm Walsall's leading tennis club will be open to the public to come and 'have a go' at tennis.

Rick Magnante, Tennis Club Secretary said; "We want to encourage more people in Walsall to come along and have a look at what is going on at our tennis club, we have an excellent range tennis opportunities with 5 courts, a club house, and great coaching opportunities".

On the 29th we will be putting on a barbecue and raffle; there will be a range of activities for children and adults including, ball machine, 'speed serving' and other competitions, all with prizes, and there will be the opportunity to join in and play a 'few sets' with club members, depending on how energetic you are!

Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

Walsall Tennis Club offers a range of opportunities for members and non members, from beginners coaching with our coach, Clayton Edge, to general leisure tennis and team match play for the more experienced.

For more information please contact Rick Magnante on Walsall 645130.

Editors notes:

Walsall Tennis Club is located to the rear of the Travel Lodge at the junction of the Birmingham Road and the Broadway in Walsall.

Walsall Tennis Club....
....started life as the Birmingham Road Lawn Tennis Club it was founded in 1912 by a group of friends who rented a tennis court in a garden in Charlemont Road, Walsall. As the Club increased in membership new premises were found in 1918, in the grounds of the "Malt Shovel" on Birmingham Road. This later became the Quality Hotel. The original grass courts were changed to red ash in the 1920's and later to tarmac.

More recently, thanks to a Lottery Grant and a Lawn Tennis Association loan, the club has five artificial grass courts. The Club is run by a voluntary committee.

Walsall Tennis Club is a not for profit volunteer led organisation.
