Willenhall Society exhibits at the Atrium
The Willenhall Society of Artists is to exhibit their groups work at the Blakenall Village Centre's Atrium Gallery from 23rd May to 28th June 2008.
Willenhall Society of Artists was formed in the spring of 2007 by a small group of amateur artists coming from all walks of life; school teachers, engineers, nurses, meat inspectors, housewives, secretaries, the thing in common was that they were unable to find art classes that not only gave tuition but allowed individuals the freedom of choice of subject, and medium used to execute their work.
With funding support from Walsall Council, Walsall Voluntary Action and friends, Willenhall Society of Artists was formally set up and following a successful application to the Lottery's 'Awards for All' scheme, 'open for business'. The grant helped with the cost of room hire, tuition and some materials.
The group continues to grow with members increasing from the original nine to at present seventeen.
The work in their exhibition at the Atrium will cover most media; watercolour, oil, acrylic, pastels and other mixed media.
Vic Griffiths Chairman of the group said; "Anyone wishing to join the society can come along to our meetings, every Wednesday 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. at the Willenhall Community & Youth Foundation, 19 Gomer Street, Willenhall, WV13 2NS. Telephone No. 01902 368199".
