International
Women's Day

Walsall's New Deal is celebrating International Women's Week in style this year with an event organised at St. Johns Methodist Church, Victoria Avenue, Bloxwich on Wednesday 19th March 2008 between 11am - 3pm.

New Deal is calling for local women from the areas of Blakenall, Bloxwich and Leamore to take an hour or so out of their day for themselves. Come along and take advantage of a range of free beauty treatments including manicures, Indian head massage and facials.

The event will also be an opportunity for women to get advice and information on a whole host of subjects which will include, healthy lifestyles, educational and employment advice and much more. A free buffet lunch will be provided along with a beauty 'goody bag' for New Deal residents (Numbers are limited).

International Women's Week runs between from the 5th – 12th March and marks a celebration of the achievements of women across the world socially, politically and economically. However, it's not just about famous women and celebrities it's a celebration of ordinary women who go about their day to day lives and the difference they make in their communities.

The event has been organised by Walsall's New Deal and local women from the area.

Local resident Shirley Hodgkins said; "We wanted to run the event to celebrate the huge difference that women make to our society and to give them just a little time for themselves to be pampered. Women are often juggling the commitments of caring for families, organising the family home, working and or studying and this can mean there isn't much time left for them. These are the real women living real lives that we want to honour."

For further information on the event please contact Jo Toft or Manny Sehmbi at the Blakenall info Centre on (01922) 711228.
