New Deal Christmas Celebrations
On Friday 30th November Walsall's New Deal will be 'kick starting' Christmas with what is becoming its traditional 'Switch On' on Blakenall Heath.
The event will start with entertainment at the Blakenall Village Centre from 12 noon until 3.30pm with the Castle School Sunshine African drumming band from 12.15pm followed by Blakenall Heath Primary School Choir from 1.45pm both performing in the Atrium. We will also have clowns skills workshops provided by 'Flip the Clown' between 12.30pm and 14.30pm.
The Blakenall lights are being 'switched on' by the Mayor of Walsall, Cllr Mr. Melvin Pitt at 4.15pm.
The Walsall Hospice will have a charity stall for anyone who needs last minute Christmas gifts and the Horizon Restaurant will be providing festive food.
On Saturday 1st December the Bloxwich Market Official 'Switch On' will take place from 12.00 noon until 4.00pm.
The 'Switch On' of the market place Christmas tree lights will be undertaken by children from the Blakenall Heath School Choir who will be singing Christmas carols between 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
There will be a Free Prize Draw to win Jack & the Beanstalk pantomime tickets for the performance at the Bloxwich Theatre Library.
Additional entertainment is being provided by P.J. Entertainments who aim to mesmerise the audience with; Jo's circus skills workshops; 'Bostin Balloons', will be balloon modelling and 'Magic Faces' will be painting faces.

The initiative received a £52 million Government grant from the Department for Communities and Local Government (formerly the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister) to be spent on sustainable regeneration spread over a ten year period that commenced 2001. |
