Youth Art Celebration
Young people who took part in a range of free creative arts activities during the summer holidays are now coming together to celebrate their achievements with an exhibition of their art work in the popular Atrium Gallery at the Blakenall Village Centre.
The creative arts activities were run for young people between the ages of 8 and 12, who worked with professional artists who helped them to make art using a range of media and methods such as; graffiti art, dance, drama, clay work and animation.
Staff on the scheme saw so many wonderful pieces of work being produced they decided that the work should be exhibited to celebrate the young peoples hard work be and to celebrate their achievements.
Manny Sehmbi, Community Development Worker for Walsall's New Deal said; "This project has been very successful, I am really impressed with the work that they have produced. I feel it is important to celebrate the young people's achievement, which is why we decided to 'showcase' their work".
On the evening of the 11th October the young people and their parents will be attending a private view of their work and will receive a certificate of achievement in celebration.
The public will be able to see the artwork displayed at the Blakenall Village Centre during the daytime on the 11th October.
The project was funded by Walsall's New Deal and delivered in partnership with Walsall Council. The project has received positive response from parents and young people with many wanting to be involved in further art projects, which are being planned.
