Our Vision

Our vision is to improve the economic prosperity of the existing and future resident population of Walsall's New Deal area by developing sustainable new businesses, increasing employment and removing the barriers that cause unemployment.

Our Strategic Objectives
  1. Provide a single point of contact for residents to access training (both in and outside employment) and job search with a programme of support and mentoring to back this up.
  2. Work with employers and prospective employers to facilitate recruitment from the residents of the footprint and to remove or minimise any barriers to that process.
  3. Encourage residents from the footprint to access training to improve job prospects.
  4. Support residents from the footprint who wish to enter self employment in order to reduce the possibility of failure.

Our targets for 2011
  • To increase the proportion of people of working age in employment to EQUAL the Walsall average by 2011
  • Reduce the number of households with no one of working age in employment by 5%
  • Raise the number of employed people from within the area who have an NVQ or equivalent to 58%
